This recollection in from my mother Maree Anne Farr nee Frewen. Ellen Frewen nee Crowe was Michael's sister. This was written before my mother died in 2016. " My memories of the war years are around the 1940's when my mother's 3 brothers were called up to service. Mick and Pat into the army, Dan into the air force. After many months of not hearing from them, news arrived to say Mick would be speaking on the BBC news. So all ears were glued to the radio with great excitement. Which was short lived as while Mick was talking on air a telegram arrived to say he had been killed in action. His best friend was feeling unwell and called to Mick to turn his tanker around. While doing so Mick ran over a mine and was killed. Pat and Dan returned 4 years later very different men."
