Son of Roy Wallace Shrimpton and of Florence Shrimpton (nee Blunden); husband of Ethel Hebron Shrimpton (nee Smith), of Timaru, Canterbury, New Zealand.
Public Contributions:I am an UK/NZ citizen, currently residing in Porthcawl, South Wales and I have "adopted" Thomas's grave in the local cemetery. He is the only New Zealand serviceman buried there. He was remembered at the Royal Air Force Stormy Down Memorial Dedication Service on Sunday July 2, 2017. The Porthcawl Lions supported Porthcawl Museum by funding the attendance of St John's Ambulance staff and by providing refreshments for the hard-working Air Cadets. It was a perfect day for the ceremony and for the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight's and the Red Arrows' fly-pasts. There was a short wreath-laying service at the graveside of Flight Sergeant Thomas Wallace Shrimpton, the young New Zealand Air Force pilot who died in a training accident over the sea off Porthcawl on September 22, 1942 at the age of 25. This service was attended by NZ Wing Commander, Lisa d'Oliveira. So, Thomas is being honoured and remembered after all this time. ... Read MoreEdit Comment
